LOS ANGELES, September 25, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Timothy Hadaway is a new player in town that wants to make a name for himself with his new retro-themed restaurant: Hadaway's.
"When I moved to California, I felt a strong desire to become an entrepreneur. I was only 18 at the time, with nothing to brag about, but I knew that I had it coming. My father always told me that if I want something, I had to work hard for it. I never took anything for granted, that's a fact."
The new place in the heart of Los Angeles has a strong retro-western theme, with ambient jazz and g-funk music that complements the black wooden tables and chairs. The interior is fueled with the art of any kind, from exact replicas of Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night to sketches of Johannes Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring.
"I love jazz, blues, soul, funk; I grew up with this music. My father was a jazz player, so I had the privilege to go to a lot of places. When I first came to LA, I was like eight years old. The city whispered only one thing to me: dreams come true. I guess this is why it's called the city of angels. It was like a magnet, I had to come closer, and closer, and closer until I finally moved here. I struggled a lot, and when I mean a lot, I tell you about that 'I barely have enough food for this week' type of 'a lot.' I guess this is where I began to cook for myself. I didn't even know that you can make several meals from the same food you cooked in the morning. I was too closed-minded and spoiled as a kid. Because of the nomad lifestyle, I used to eat a lot of fast food and unhealthy food. I was working as a janitor for a stadium here in LA when I started to read cooking books. This was when it all started."
Hadaway's serves everything from high quality grilled steak to fine French and Moldavian wines. You can hardly find a good place like this, with good food and amazing music.
"You can hear Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Bill Evans and co. all day long here. If you come only to listen to the music, you are welcomed. I used to chat with some of my clients about the music that plays in my restaurant. The first days were amazing; I didn't know that word travels so fast in Los Angeles. People from different regions, even Compton, came to our cute little pub to eat some fried chicken with soup and listen to the grooves."
When asked what advice he can give to people that want to start a business like his, Mr. Timothy replied: "You are going to spend so much money to rent a place, especially if you happen to want it in the middle of the city, like me. You will also compete with the places nearby, so you have to become better and better at what you do, each day. Having some experience in cooking is a big plus; even if you don't want to be a chef, you need to know what you are serving. Take a good cooking book and start to learn. Try some recipes, fail them, fail them again, fail them three times, and make sure that you don't give up. Also, if they have this question, it means that they are not ready to take the big shot. I knew when I was ready, and I ran with all my speed towards my goal. There are free online classes on business strategies; you just have to Google them. The Internet is your friend, make sure that you have a website and a social media presence. Feedback is everything, so make them feel like home."
Good luck on your cooking adventure, Timothy Hadaway.
