In her career as a medical practitioner, Jillian Stewart has witnessed the hard work and dedication of some of America's most important charities.
JENSEN BEACH, Fla., March 15, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Jillian Stewart's work has seen her travel the length and breadth of the country, allowing her to see first hand the fantastic achievements of organizations such as Sanford Health Foundation's Children's Miracle Network.
Having first encountered the Children's Miracle Network while based at South Dakota's Sanford Aberdeen Health, Stewart has continued to support the charity through donations made to the cause.
Stewart's generous nature has also seen her pledge support to the likes of Safe Harbor, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and the Aberdeen Catholic Foundation.
Furthermore, Stewart has offered her time to a number of additional organizations, getting hands-on and volunteering for United Way of America, Planned Parenthood, and the Treasure Coast Food Bank.
Established more than 125 years ago, United Way improves lives by enlisting the caring power of communities across the globe in an effort to advance the common good.
Of its work in the U.S., the organization says, "We all have a stake in what befalls our fellow man. We all benefit when a child succeeds in school, when someone finds a job that will help them provide for their family, or when more people are able to access quality, affordable health care."
United Way creates solutions to community problems, making them safer, healthier, and more prosperous, with the support of volunteers such as Stewart.
Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood is one of the country's leading providers of affordable, high-quality health care.
Backed by over 100 years of research by medical experts, Planned Parenthood is also the nation's largest provider of sex education.
It's a cause close to Stewart's heart, having worked in family medicine and as an OB-GYN.
Services offered by Planned Parenthood include general health care, women's services, birth control, pregnancy testing, patient education, and sexual health testing and treatment, as well as LGBT and men's health services.
"Planned Parenthood believes in the individual fundamental right of people throughout the world to manage their reproductive health, regardless of income, marital status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or residence," says the organization of its work.
Over 2 million patients are served by Planned Parenthood in the U.S. each year, while a further 1.5 million people benefit from educational programs and other forms of outreach.
Now based in Florida, Stewart has also offered her assistance to the local Treasure Coast Food Bank.
Founded in 1988, Treasure Coast Food Bank is the area's largest hunger-relief organization and the only food bank serving Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee.
Volunteers such as Stewart help to serve food and assistance to around 100,000 individuals each week, with 8 million meals distributed annually.
Treasure Coast Food Bank provides for over 300 pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and low-income day-care centers, while simultaneously operating various mobile services in the area.
"Our vision," says the food bank of its work, "is to provide food to improve the quality of health and wellness of those who are struggling with food insecurity."
Volunteers for Treasure Coast Food Bank handle all manner of tasks, from inspecting and sorting donated items, to assembling emergency food boxes for families, veterans, seniors, school pantries, pet pantries, and more.
