In three South Florida locations, he uses MRI (Magnetic Resonance Image) and Fluoroscopy and the latest Diagnostic Ultrasound techniques to diagnose musculoskeletal injuries from sports, car accidents, and normal wear and tears. He uses minimally invasive procedures appropriate for each injury and he prescribes a number of safe and non-addictive painkillers tailored to each individual patient.

Dr. Rahat Faderani helps professional athletes and College Athletes in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach with these evaluations and treatments.

It is common for athletes to injure their spinal discs, knees, shoulders, and hips. One of the best ways to determine the injury is through a HIGH FIELD MRI. This is a new technology that Dr. Rahat Faderani offers in his offices to both athletes and other injury patients and those suffering from autoimmune diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis or Psoriatic Arthritis.

Dr. Rahat Federani explains that MRI machines play with the electromagnetic field in our body to produce an extremely high definition, three-dimensional images that help study the injury objectively.

In older MRI technologies, the injury may be confused with an artifact or image error. In the new High Field MRI technology, there is much less possibility of error and better resolution. High Field MRI does not expose patients to harmful radiation like CT Scans do.

High-resolution quality of the images helps Dr. Rahat Faderani attract a number of professional athletes. These images also have been used in evaluating medical-legal patients who have been injured due to the fault of others and require the best diagnosis available.

Dr. Rahat Faderani explains that every sport has its own specific injuries since the body of a professional athlete is pushed to the maximum in different ways in each sport.

For example, during this interview, Dr. Faderani obtained the consent of a basketball player to demonstrate the knee MRI that Dr. Faderani had obtained in his office moments earlier. Dr. Faderani demonstrated that basketball players have the tendency to develop injuries to their ACL ligament and the meniscus in the knee. The specific movements such as the jump and the pivot often lead to tearing or breaking of these ligaments. Dr. Faderani then used Fluoroscopy to guide an injection into the injured right knee of the patient. When asked, the athletes said he barely felt the injection. Dr. Faderani explained he uses a combination of special needles that have a certain diameter and length as well as numbing techniques to make these injections as painless as possible. The patient was excited that he may be able to avoid surgery with this approach.

Dr. Faderani recommends that surgery should be considered as the last option, especially in cases where there is a minor ligamental injury.

Dr. Rahat Faderani also speaks about the implications of devastating diagnosis for athletes:

"While an injury can be devastating to the team and athlete, it's important for me to give an honest, professional diagnosis. A lot is at stake with these players."

Dr. Rahat Faderani explained: "Almost every week there is a news story on television or online that tells terrified fans that some of the best players on their teams face debilitating and season ending injuries." He emphasized that athlete injuries are the most difficult to treat since the recovery must be complete; otherwise, even a small injury can result in a life-long disability and lead to the ending of the career of an athlete.

In the next room, the doctor also obtained the consent of a former college corner back to be interviewed by us. The athlete had acknowledged that after two surgeries on his lower back at a different facility, his injuries had not resolved and his performance was underwhelming. He acknowledges that the window on his potential career had closed. He comes to see Dr. Faderani twice a year to receive spine injections. He mentioned that a procedure called Rhizotomy performed by Dr. Faderani after his two failed surgeries finally allowed him to participate in work out by two professional teams three years ago. He believes that without that procedure, he would not have had that chance. Dr. Faderani said that Rhizotomy allows the individual to live pain-free for periods of 2-3 years. The technique in this procedure involves burning of the affected nerves to eliminate their function. This is a popular procedure because of its effectiveness and minimally invasive nature.

It was intriguing to witness the bed side manner of Dr. Faderani, who treated all his patients as family. The injured cornerback had started a career as a high school assistant coach, which made his doctor genuinely happy and ecstatic to see his patient find a way to stay involved in his passion in spite of his injury.

The professional services of Dr. Rahat Faderani attract not only athletes looking for recovery but also injury victims who need outstanding documentation of their injury and plan a road to recovery as well.

Professional services in foreign languages are hard to find. That's why many patients find it hard to develop the trust factor with their medical provider.

Dr. Faderani, who is fluent in five languages, fills this need. In the next room, we saw a patient who had low back herniated discs. She needed a walker to get into the room. She only spoke a broken version of French, known as Creole. Today was her low back injection appointment. Dr. Faderani became our interpreter and explained that she had brought a home cooked meal of her native country as a sign of gratitude. He said that she was happy that she had finally found a doctor that could explain her ailment in her native language.

Dr. Rahat Faderani also volunteers at La Caridad Free Clinic, where he provides free help to patients who live in poor areas of South Florida.

He graduated from Nova Southeastern University and later became a diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

In addition, he is part of the American Society of Pain Educators. In this capacity, Dr. Faderani expressed that the change of emphasis in the medical profession from powerful but addictive pain pills to non-addictive medications and procedures is a positive change and he is excited to be an active leader in this field and use his expertise to make a difference in the lives of South Floridians.
